Our names are Scotty and Fiddy and we hitchhiked to all 50 state capitols in 50 consecutive days. We started in Times Square on October 10th 2006 and ended in Honolulu on November 28th 2006. It was awesome. Email us: hitch50@gmail.com. Thanks to everyone who made it possible, it was fun! Read about our trip here.

A trail of crime across America #3

Apparently it is illegal to drive a car in Virginia with no shoes on. Too bad Fiddy couldn't hold off until the state line to help Lindsay with some driving. Now we're really in trouble.

I'm tracking you to be a little over 200 miles from the NC/SC line. The map makes it look as though you arent moving. Keep me posted. Youve got the number.

Standing by awaiting your call. Will meet you at "South of the Boarder". Look for a 2006 PT Cruizer. Hope you are both small people. Call once you are within an hour of the state line. At least you won't be restricted to one kind of music.

Damn, wish I could help you guys. I'm not far from Raleigh but I'm in the Military and I've got a 0500 muster in the morning. If you guys had hit VA tomorrow I could have been there for ya. I'm following ya all the way! Hope you can get this done! ~Jenny~

You didn't break any laws in VA for driving barefoot. There is a great article about how none of the 50 states have any laws about driving barefoot. Here is a copy of the letter from VA :

DONALD E. WILLIAMS WILLIAM H. LEIGHTY
COMMISSIONER DEPUTY COMMISSIONER
COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Department of Motor Vehicles MAIL ADDRESS
2300 West Broad Street P. O. BOX 27412
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA 23269-0001

June 13, 1994

Mr. Jason R. Heimbaugh
Route 1, Box 120
Champaign, Illinois 61821

Dear Mr. Heimbaugh:

Thank you for your letter dated May 27, 1994 regarding the legality of driving barefoot in the State of Virginia.

At this time, the Commonwealth of Virginia has no law(s) restricting citizens from driving while barefoot.

Sincerely,

W. H. Leighty
Deputy Commissioner
