Only 48 more...
Two states down today. New York, and Connecticut. Only 48 more to go. We also visited New Jersey and Massachusetts, but not the state capitols.

Four awesome rides, all really cool people.
I doubt many people hitchhike in Times Square, but we did.

Dave, Tony and Inessa, and Rick got us through New York, while Ed and Stephanie took us through Massachusetts into Hartford.
We're now both masters of western Massachusetts geography, history, politics and especially college sports from Ed and Stephanie. They picked us up in Lee, Massachusetts and took us down to Hartford, Connetticut, our second state. Ed also serenaded us with his barber shoppe quartet renditions of College sports songs. Well done Ed, your retirement has opened a new door to singing.
According to Ed, basketball was invented in Holyoke Mass, not Springfield. We have no reason to doubt him either.
"Big ups" to Nicole, the self proclaimed "Unluckiest girl in New England". Nicole was on her way to Hartford from Providence, Rhode Island to pick us up tonight when her car broke down. Thanks for trying Nicole, we'll see you in Providence tomorrow.
So we're spending the night in Hartford and looking to go to Providence, Boston, Concord and maybe more tomorrow. Are you in these areas? Will you be going to these areas? Give us a call...

glad to here you guys had a great day... love the pics... keep us posted and good luck in your aventures tommorrow
I would like to know how you are going to hitch it to Honolulu, Hawaii; stand outside an airport terminal waiting for a pilot to pick you up?
RISE and SHINE!
We want to see your gps signal move! GO FIDDY GO SCOTTY!
You are the best!
Good luck guys! For over 15 years my dream trip has been to visit all the U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Three years ago I finally got to do some of it, but only 22 states, and not the capitals, and not hitchhiking.
You guys are going to have an awesome time! Keep posting, I'll be following.
Too bad you'll miss waterfire. Providence has the best summer celebration; every night at sunset, they light fires in big ass pits in the middle of the river. The only two in October are the 7th and the 21st. I'll look for other events along your path here and there that I might know about.
Oh... if you're in Holyoke... hop a ride to Amherst and grab a beer at the Moan and Dove. It's my favorite pub in the whole world... and I've been quite a few places for beer in the world.
Hi guys.. just now came across Hitch50 while searching for travel blogs. I love a bit of road adventure and since I'm not currently involved in one myself, then the next best thing is to "come along" with you two wild and crazy guys. (loved the flickr pics of you on the bales of hay)
In my younger days when hitchhiking was safe and respectable I did a fair amount of holding out my thumb for a ride. It was fun.. all the different characters one can meet. (just be careful of the drunks who want someone to talk to while they weave over the yellow line.)
Maybe you guys can help to make hitchin' a ride from strangers a fun thing to do once again. In any case it is certain to become a most memorable thing you are doing. Good [synchronistic] luck be with you both in the weeks ahead.
(I'll link your adventure up from our blog and we'll be following along with you on your grand journey.)
Hey, I googled "hitch 50" and I found your store on Zazzle. Why don't you have a link to your store on your blog so others could meet you in those bright green or blue shirts? Or even the hoodie, that one is great.

I will call you guys when you are in the pittsburgh area.
